Alberta Rigging Safety Council
Who we are
The Alberta Rigging Safety Council is a non-profit organization established to advance rigging standards and safety across Alberta. Our Council brings together leaders and subject matter experts from a broad range of industries, including construction, energy, manufacturing, training, health and safety, apprenticeship, and heavy industrial operations.
Through collaboration, education, and industry engagement, we are working to promote greater consistency in competency, accountability, and safe work practices for everyone involved in rigging and hoisting activities.
The Council was formed from a shared recognition that safer outcomes require more than compliance alone— they require strong leadership, practical guidance, and a commitment to continuous improvement across all sectors that perform lifting operations.

To protect workers and the public by advancing safe rigging and hoisting practices through education, promotion, advocacy, and standardization.
Our Goals
The Alberta Rigging Safety Council exists to improve safety outcomes for workers involved in rigging and hoisting activities throughout Alberta.
Our goals are to:
Promote competency, accountability, and professionalism in rigging and hoisting activities.
Support the development of practical guidance, resources, and industry best practices.
Encourage consistency in training, qualifications, and competency expectations across sectors.
Foster collaboration between industry stakeholders, employers, workers, educators, and regulators.
Improve awareness and understanding of rigging-related hazards and risk management.
Help reduce serious incidents, injuries, and fatalities associated with rigging, hoisting, and lifting operations.
Create opportunities for industry participation, knowledge sharing, and continuous improvement.
We recognize that rigging and hoisting activities extend far beyond any single trade or industry. By bringing diverse perspectives together, we aim to strengthen safety culture and contribute to safer workplaces across Alberta.
